Build Improvements
After playtesting we added the onboarding level to the build. The onboarding level was a huge improvement, acting as a safe zone where players could try out the controls. Due to some players thinking that the onboarding took too long, we added a skip button. This was also helpful for players that wanted to play another round. We added a boiling effect to the teacup boss to indicate that the phase changed, and we hope that players will know more easily see when they reached the second phase. In addition, we added damaged textures for each enemy to make it extra clear that the players' attacks are effective and that the health is going down. We also added the queen to the onboarding and gave her attacks and animations to make her look a bit more threatening. The onboarding now also featured GIFs to explain the gameplay to the player, which made it easier for the player to know what they had to do in the onboarding.
To make the gameplay more immersive we added textures and extra assets to the level. We also added vibration and lights to the wand prototype, which worked great as haptic feedback for players.
Finally, based on feedback we also updated the card attack to make it easier to dodge and to understand for the players. This made the game more enjoyable to play.
